Juggalos and Religion (Pt. 1 of 2)

It appears that juggalo culture has permeated just about everywhere. Over the next weeks we'll show you just how far reaching it is. But from my internet perusals I've found one overwhelmingly juggalo-saturated area in particular: religion.

Oh, by the way, I am proud to say that I made the above image, which I dub "Jesus 2 Dope".

I found this quoted on a message board:
10:15–10:30 am

What Is a Juggalo: A Function Alternative to Religion

Oral Session A3, Converse B18

This senior thesis discusses the identity and faith of Juggalos, who are the followers of a
band called Insane Clown Posse. Providing an overview of Insane Clown Posse, I will look
at how a Juggalo’s way of life and belief system has many similarities to that of alternative
religions through their community bond. I intend to discuss the phenomenon of the
Juggalo in order to educate readers about the life of a Juggalo, the community that is
created by them, and to discuss the importance of this particular group of contemporary
youth and the social movement they have created for themselves. This will entail looking
at theories of Gemeinschaft, Sense of Community theory, and alternative religions. To
collect the information, I will be combining ethnographic research and secondary analysis.
What I expect to find is a relationship between Juggalo identity and faith as it pertains to
their sense of community and how it could be argued that they have formed their own
alternative religion. Finally, I anticipate explaining why the Juggalo community shouldn’t
be referenced in a negative way.
I would be curious to see evidence of juggalos of Muslim, Buddhist or other faiths but I haven't found much so far. I did find this on a message board:
Me and my bud . . . have this vision of the Carnival. I'm a Christian so i can relate the Carnival to Christianity . . . He's not a Christian. His religous views are the Carnival. He believes in God . . . then you have Muslim Juggalos, they can relate the Dark Carnival faith to the Islamic faith, and ironically, worship the same God as Christians and Jews because they all link back to the God of Abraham in each religion. different ways to worship the same God outside the Carnival.
And this next quote is from a woman who identifies as a Romanian Gypsy juggalo.
My Clan believes in a realm known as the nomadic bizarre. This belief dates back to times of Christ. The belief in the nomadic bizarre: In between Shangri-La and The Netherviod , there exists many other realms. Some being good and light, some being dark or wicked. In between those other realms in a travailing freak show or nomadic bizarre. This bizarre is a collaboration of dead souls who travel the realms to bring only what you have brought apon yourself. (( This is all because of you!)) The souls selected are of people who never fit in with regular society, therefore in death they find completion within a family of freaks. A place where all are excepted and welcome to the bizarre travailing show. What juggalo’s believe is very similar to this Armenia belief. So similar I can find little to contradict said statement in comparison.
You can read a first-hand account of Violent J's Dark Carnival mythology (which he claims to have came upon in a dream) in his autobiography, ICP: Behind The Paint, and also on the ICP web site, here.

Jeez, this keeps getting deeper... Juggalos and Religion to be continued next time.
